Content Manager

The Organization

Preemptive Love is a global community of peacemakers working to end war and stop the spread of violence. We do this by living and working in polarizing conflict zones, providing emergency relief to families persecuted by terrorism and violence, jobs for displaced families and community building.

About the team

It’s an exciting time to join the Content Production team at Preemptive Love. This team works in partnership with Field Communications, Marketing and Digital Studio to create awareness for our global humanitarian efforts, grow our donor base, drive traffic to the Preemptive Love Shop, and support Love Anyway Gatherings. This team manages multi-media content supporting Field Communications, Marketing and Programs. Each individual on the team has the power to make a huge impact in the communities we serve, and works together to drive excellence for the organization.

Job Title: Content Manager

Hours: Full time

Location: Remote (global)

Reports to: Director of Communications and PR

About the Role

Overview

The Content Manager ensures the quality and consistency of every piece of content. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, a strong instinct for the hook in every story, the ability to juggle multiple projects, and a vision to elevate our content. You will supervise a small, nimble team of writers and video producers. You’re comfortable giving strategic direction but flexible enough to dive into content creation when needed.

The content manager oversees production of both written and visual content—editing articles and reports for clarity and accuracy, and giving direction and feedback on videos. You’ll work closely with the Director of Communications and PR and the Editor-in-Chief to plan all editorial content for the organization.

This role is critical to ensuring our content meets the highest standards of excellence and cultivating a sense of community with our online followers, all with the goal of continuing to grow our reach, traffic, and engagement across all platforms.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Edit all written content produced by the Content Production and Field Communications teams—including (but not limited to) articles for the Preemptive Love website and print journal, donor reports, content for social media, and more.
    • Ensure every piece of written content is optimized for maximum engagement and hooks the reader as quickly as possible.
    • Write a captivating hed/dek for each article.
    • Edit to ensure each piece adheres to the Preemptive Love brand voice and the highest standards of editorial accuracy.
  • Review and approve video content.
    • Ensure every video is optimized for maximum engagement and hooks the viewer as quickly as possible (typically within the first 15 seconds).
    • Provide feedback and edits to video producers/editors.
    • Ensure finished videos are delivered in the right sizes/formats to be deployed across a variety of digital platforms.
  • Contribute to writing content for the Preemptive Love website, print journal, and social media channels as needed.
  • Supervise a small, global team of staff writers and video producers.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (5%).
  • Other duties as required.

Specifications/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-7 years experience in digital content creation
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong editing skills, obsessive about details
  • Experience managing creatives
  • Understanding of the Storybrand framework
