About the team

It’s an exciting time to join the Marketing team at Preemptive Love. The Marketing team works in partnership with the Communications and Digital Studio teams to create awareness for our global relief efforts, grow our donor base, drive traffic to the Preemptive Love Shop, and support Love Anyway Gatherings. This team manages all aspects of channel marketing, ensuring that content is distributed to the right audience at the right time through a variety of media including social media, performance marketing, email marketing, and marketing automation. Each individual on the team has the power to make a huge impact in the communities we serve, and works together to drive excellence for the organization.


Job Overview


Essential Function: The Social Media Specialist will drive traction across multiple social channels not only for Preemptive Love, but also for our Preemptive Love Shop. The Social Media Specialist will drive and manage these various outlets and must  be able to easily pivot between these audience segments and brand voices as needed. The role requires a  highly skilled communicator and relentless innovator, with the ability to be creative and analytical, and make data informed decisions. This role is  part of a nimble team that requires a “roll up your sleeves” collaborator.  Creating  relevant and highly engaging content while identifying  strategic opportunities is essential to this role. 


Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the overall social media strategy, planning and tracking analytics to drive traction across multiple social media channels/ outlets.
  • Maximize engagement and reach across Preemptive Love social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest, and additional platforms TBD. 
  • Build measurable and authentic social-first campaigns in service of brand and business goals.
  • Track and monitor the analytics and key performance indicators or key success indicator of social media and online engagement initiatives towards achieving key goals
  • Craft and implement creative, multi-faceted social strategies for advocacy, public education, live events, and media and fundraising campaigns
  • Identify high-impact opportunities to increase the visibility of our advocacy and programmatic work, and to generate email list and social media audience engagement, growth and retention.
  • Partner with our Communications and PR team to align with comms strategy and ensure continuity of messaging between the website content and social media.
  • Lead and manage  the social media content calendar and lead strategy behind post ideas, themes, and real-time opportunities. 
  • Analyze cultural, community, media, and market trends to inform strategic and creative development for content. Identify and report on community trends to advise on potential opportunities or risks through social listening and monitoring. 
  • Work cross-functionally to develop ad-hoc social campaigns in response to relevant news cycle stories, ensuring credibility and integrity are at the forefront of our messaging. 
  • Vet inbound influencer and User Generated Content (UGC) opportunities and potential. 
  • Support Shop and Gatherings teams in building out unique social media channels and planning campaigns for long-term success. 
  • Optimize visual content (videos, photography) from the field to ensure mobile and desktop viewability. 
  • Curate content on visual platforms (Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube), developing a story through images. 
  • Partner with Digital Studio to develop infographics, illustrations, and social-first content. Additional graphic design and/or video editing duties as assigned. 
  • Explore new social media channels as they are introduced and provide recommendations and value proposition to leadership as to if and when to activate these channels.

  • Curate and lead training for staff and affiliates on developing their social media presence, best practices, advertising, and audience growth strategies
  • Advise and consult with affiliate staff in onboarding new social media colleagues as needed.

  • Familiar with social scheduling platforms
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video) in a timely manner
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of online marketing channels
  • Familiarity with web design, graphic design,  and/or video editing
  • Analytical and multitasking skills


Required education and experience:


  • BS degree in Marketing or relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant field
  • Proven experience in social media management
  • Hands on experience in content management
  • Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter (most critical to have high-level experience) 
  • YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn (moderate level of experience) 
  • Canva (moderate level of experience) 
  • Organic content not paid
  • Design tools basic proficiency


Language requirements: Fluent in English

Additional eligibility qualifications:

  • Second language in Spanish or Arabic is a plus.
  • Salesforce Social Studio experience 
  • Previous experience with cause marketing or non-profits 
  • Active interest in global issues, news and social media trends
  • Spanish/Arabic as a second language is a plus
